Update safety data sheets immediately – transition period expired at the end of 2022
New requirements for safety data sheets:
Why you should act now
Bring transparency to the supply chain
Safety data sheets (SDS) inform users about risks and hazards of substances and mixtures. As a distributor, you are required by Article 31 of the REACH Regulation and by the Globally Harmonized System of Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Chemicals (GHS) to prepare SDSs for hazardous substances and to keep their contents up to date. This means that the SDSs must be promptly updated as soon as new scientific knowledge emerges about the substance that may affect risk management.
Pay attention to the new requirements
Regulation (EU) 2020/878 went into effect in January 2021 and requires the SDSs to contain additional information on certain substances and mixtures: specific concentration limits, multiplication factors and acute toxicity estimates, and information on nanoforms. The bad news: The transition period expired at the end of 2022 and all the required updates have to have been implemented. The good news: We can still support you – so that you can be confident that all your SDSs meet all the requirements of chemical law.
