A visit to the existing laboratory says more than 1,000 questionnaires
A lot of information has to be brought together for laboratory planning
A lot of information has to be brought together for laboratory planning
Laboratory planning experts are always the right people to talk to when it comes to laboratory design options. This is because they have a lot of experience in designing laboratories from past projects. They also have an overview of all safety-related issues and know how to comply with legal requirements.
However, specialist knowledge is only one aspect of laboratory planning. On the other hand, there is always the real customer laboratory with its specific processes and workflows. This is why the user's input is typically crucial when planning and optimizing a laboratory in the course of a conversion or new build. After all, only the user knows the current conditions and individual challenges.
In order for the planning experts to learn as much as possible about the current state of the laboratory, it is crucial that the laboratory planner works closely with the laboratory operator during the planning phase. The laboratory planner can then collate all the information and work out the best solution. However, it is usually not clear to the client which details are crucial for further planning.
Many unanswered questions are clarified on site in the existing laboratory
That's why we at Infraserv always visit our customers on site in their existing labs at the beginning of the planning phase. That way, we can get as comprehensive a picture as possible of the existing layout and work processes and gain valuable insights into the customer's individual requirements.
In addition, the laboratory operator can use concrete examples to explain much better what is important to him, where problems occur and what else he would like to change.
By inspecting the existing laboratory, misunderstandings can be avoided and important details that might go unnoticed on paper or in conversation can be taken into account by us directly in the planning.
As laboratory planners, we can also better illustrate initial ideas or new concepts to users on the basis of the existing building, especially when a conversion is involved.
This is why visiting customers on site is an integral part of the laboratory planning phase and contributes significantly to the intensive collaboration between us and the laboratory operators. And this cooperation is crucial for an optimal result.
