A feel-good atmosphere and design in the laboratory – there's a lot to consider
The desire for a more comfortable atmosphere in the laboratory
Until now, laboratories have often had a cool and not particularly inviting ambience in terms of design. However, this does not necessarily have to be the case, as there are also ways to create more "homely" solutions for employees.
This is why many companies want to specifically integrate such "feel-good islands" into the laboratory space when renovating or building new laboratories. After all, they are not only visually eye-catching, a pleasant and warm atmosphere also increases employee satisfaction and motivation.
But in the laboratory context, the right implementation is particularly important. And it's not just about technical laboratory features. Occupational health and safety and fire protection also involve a large number of legal requirements that must also be observed in the laboratory and at the workplace.
It is important to incorporate a great deal of knowledge into laboratory planning so that appealing design elements can ultimately find their way into the modern laboratory.
Infraserv always keeps an eye on regulations such as occupational safety and fire protection
Many external architectural firms lack the knowledge of such specifics that our Infraserv architects have acquired in many laboratory projects. As laboratory planning experts, we provide support in joint projects to fully exploit the design possibilities for a laboratory while still taking all relevant requirements into account.
For example, not every floor covering in a laboratory may be suitable for the writing area for hygiene reasons. Because even if this is separated from the laboratory bench with partitions, unwanted foreign particles can still be carried over. The issues of fire protection and occupational safety must also be assessed in every laboratory area. After all, the height and illuminance of the designer luminaire at the desk must comply with health and safety regulations. If it dazzles or is too dark, it must be adjusted or even replaced. But even with the legal requirements in mind and a critical eye on room planning and furnishings, we always remain open to new ideas.
And so, together with our customers and partners, we create new and surprising concepts for modern and pleasant working in the laboratory.
