Industriepark Höchst supports children
The 2018 Open House Day on September 22 was a resounding success for Industriepark Höchst. A grand total of 15,000 visitors cast a glimpse behind the scenes, toured the plants and learned what the park’s occupants do. One big attraction was the Ferris wheel. For a token price of two euros, visitors could be carried skyward and take in a glorious panorama of the industrial park. The companies that participated in Open House Day donated EUR 3,000 from the proceeds to the “Tailwind” aftercare team at the Höchst Children’s Clinic. The team, one of the first institutions of its kind in Hesse, supports families with children who were born prematurely or have chronic diseases.
Infraserv Höchst CEO Jürgen Vormann, Bayer Site Manager Frank Zurmühlen and Celanese Site Director Arno Rockmann presented the donations for their companies and on behalf of BASF, Clariant, Infraserv Logistics, Provadis and Sanofi, who also participated in the event.
“Open House Day was a huge success for all the companies that participated, and we’re happy to share our success with the local community,” said Vormann. Rockmann added, “The companies at Industriepark Höchst support their local communities in many different ways, and we want to continue that tradition.” Zurmühlen highlighted the popularity of the Ferris wheel on Open House Day: “Children were particularly eager to climb onto the Ferris wheel. We’re thrilled to use the proceeds to support an institution that is doing something special to give children a good start in life.”
The Höchst Children’s Clinic was extremely grateful for the donation. “We need donations to cover some of our costs because private and public insurance doesn’t pay for all the services that our Tailwind team provides,” said Andrea Christiansen, a pediatric nurse on the Höchst Children’s Clinic’s Aftercare team, which also includes a social worker, a pediatrician and a family therapist. “The donation helps us to assist and support families, especially those with premature and chronically ill infants, in the initial stage of their transition from the hospital to the home.”
