Visionary presentation with 5 future fields: Infraserv Höchst impresses at ACHEMA 2024 with its unique range of services

ACHEMA, the world's largest leading trade fair for the process industry, takes place only every three years - and attracts top-class experts, decision-makers and users from all over the world to Frankfurt am Main. Infraserv Höchst used the event as a special kind of home game: Each of the five days of the trade show from June 10 to 14 focused on a different topic from the company's service portfolio - the perfect opportunity to showcase Infraserv Höchst's full range of forward-looking solutions to an international audience of experts and present itself as an attractive employer.

Preparations for Infraserv Höchst's appearance at ACHEMA 2024 began in November 2023 because the company had something special in mind. The goal was to present Infraserv with all its expertise and facets under the motto “perspectives”. The five-day trade fair provided the ideal platform for this. The open stand concept with lounge furniture invited visitors to get to know a different core topic each day in a pleasant atmosphere. The presentation formats were therefore just as varied as the range of topics on offer. These ranged from specialist lectures and stimulating discussions to video presentations and live podcasts.

The goal of the trade show was to show how Infraserv Höchst is using its extensive specialized expertise to drive the future-oriented transformation of Industriepark Höchst and beyond, providing valuable impetus to other innovative companies.

“perspectives” – five visions for the transformation and future fields of the chemical and pharmaceutical industry

In two specialist presentations, Dirk-Harald Bestehorn from Infraserv Höchst and Elisabeth Schloten from the young Düsseldorf-based IoT company Kiotera shed light on what predictive maintenance is all about and how it can be used to make maintenance processes more efficient and reliable in the age of the Internet of Things. Illustrative use cases from the collaboration between Infraserv and Kiotera showed how the successful implementation of predictive maintenance can increase the availability of any plant.

Hydrogen is still controversial in the development of sustainable solutions for the mobility of the future. However, Dr. Sirko Ogriseck from Infraserv Höchst showed how fuel cell drives based on green hydrogen can already contribute to decarbonization in commercial vehicles today - although this will require an expansion of European electrolysis capacities. Using the example of the H2 filling station at Industriepark Höchst, Dr. Ogriseck demonstrated the potential of hydrogen mobility and the challenges facing the infrastructure.

Christina Braumüller from the hydrogen start-up INERATEC then explained how sustainable e-fuels for transportation and e-chemicals are produced from CO2 and green hydrogen, which is a waste product of the chemical industry, in a power-to-liquid process chain at a pioneering plant in Industriepark Höchst.

Using Industriepark Höchst as an example, Prof. Dr. Thomas Bayer from Infraserv Höchst explained how waste materials from chemical production can be used to supply energy, thus enabling innovations in the circular economy. Julian Odenthal from the start-up Arcus Greencycling also showed how high-quality oils for the petrochemical industry can be produced from mixed plastic waste without further sorting - with significantly lower CO2 emissions.

Recycling and the circular economy also open up completely new perspectives in the chemical-pharmaceutical industry. Would you like to find out how your company can become even more efficient by recycling residual and waste materials? Talk to our specialists!

Data engineering and artificial intelligence also play a major role in Infraserv's digital transformation and are being researched in a separate business unit. Frank Mollard and Francesco Puglisi explained how Infraserv aims to increase both the effectiveness and efficiency of industrial processes with self-developed apps and industrial data science - for example in the long-term analysis and interpretation of data from chemical plants. Emanuel Slany from the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, Digital Health & Analytics, Comprehensible AI delved even deeper into the perspectives of human-centered AI and explained his institute's research into linking explainable machine learning with the knowledge of employees in human-AI partnerships.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning offer companies completely new opportunities to make processes more efficient and also more human-friendly. Would you like to find out more? Ask our experts!
