Fuel for the future: Construction of the world's largest power-to-liquid pioneer plant at Industriepark Höchst
INERATEC's pioneering plant at Industriepark Höchst represents a major technological milestone for e-fuel production and is a great example of successful collaboration with strong partners.
Infraserv is proud that INERATEC was able to launch and scale up the project based on the existing infrastructure at the site. Our journey began back in 2016 with a passion for innovative technologies, a willingness to break new ground and a clear commitment to pioneering solutions. In the ICO2CHEM research project, we joined forces with INERATEC, Provadis University and other partners from Finland, Italy, and Germany to address the key question of whether CO₂ and other byproducts from chemical production can be fed back into the production cycle as part of the circular economy. This application research enabled INERATEC to test its technology in an industrial environment - and considerable progress has been made sense then.
By the end of 2024, INERATEC will have completed the main part of the pioneer plant, laying the foundation for extensive testing and preparation for the commissioning phase at the beginning of 2025. We look forward to the plant starting production of e.g. synthetic fuels for aviation soon.
Infraserv will supply the key feed stock for the power-to-liquid plant: CO2 from a biogas plant and hydrogen as a byproduct from chemical production. Infraserv will also provide key resources such as electricity, water and energy and support with infrastructure services such as securing the site and assisting with official approval procedures (BImSchG approval). We can also support INERATEC with our expertise in operational issues.
Driving forward the urgently needed transformation in the chemical industry is a joint task. This will be realised through the combination of INERATEC's innovative e-fuel technology and Infraserv's expertise and resources – Industriepark Höchst provides the ideal platform and site conditions for innovative start-ups like INERATEC and many others.
